Honor Societies
National Honor Society (NHS) and California Scholarship Federation (CSF) are nationally recognized scholarship organizations. In an attempt to recognize those students who excel academically, The King's Academy admits students into the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and the National Honor Society (NHS). Membership details for each organization are listed below. Colleges, universities and scholarship organizations look for NHS and CSF memberships in candidates.
California Scholarship Federation – based on Academic GPA
To be eligible for this honor, junior high and high school students must apply for each semester of study beginning the 2nd semester of their 7th grade year (for CJSF) or sophomore year (CSF). Each semester, during the first 2-4 weeks of the semester, students need to fill out the CSF Application form using their previous semester grades. Forms for CSF will be available in the SAO January 28th. The completed application along with a copy of the student’s transcript or report card for that semester, and a processing fee of $5 will be due in the SAO, Friday, February 15th, before the SAO closes. Applications will not be accepted after that date and incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Eight grade students who are awarded membership three of their four semesters in Junior High will become CJSF members. Seniors who are awarded membership for at least three semesters from their sophomore and junior years and at least one semester of their senior year will become lifetime CSF Sealbearers and will graduate with the honors accorded those members. If a student transferred to The King’s Academy from another high school, he/she may still apply for membership in CSF/CJSF. Please direct your questions to the Diana Pena (x248), TKA’s CSF Advisor.
National Honor Society – based on Cumulative GPA
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) consists of students in grades 7 and 8. Students may be inducted in the fall of their 7th or 8th grade year. The National Honor Society (NHS) consists of students in grades 10-12. Students may be inducted in the spring of their sophomore or junior year. Only students who have attended TKA the equivalent of one semester may be considered for membership. The minimum GPA for the NJHS and the NHS is 3.8 (weighted). If for any reason a member of the NHS is dismissed from the chapter, the member may not be reinstated at any time in the future. Membership in the National Honor Society is both an honor and a responsibility. Students selected for membership will be expected to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. There is a yearly membership fee. For more details, please contact Mrs. Rojas, NJHS Adviser (drojas@tka.org) or Ms. Chung, NHS Adviser (x323) for more details, or check out the TKA website.
