A New School Year Message from Head of School

Dear Parents and Students,

For my family and me, this summer seems like a blur, which may be a sentiment you share. It never really felt like the summer started. Vacations were altered, and much of our time was spent in anticipation of the ability to travel that never materialized. The end of the spring semester rolled right into a very long shelter-in-place order that continues today. For this reason, many of us are so ready for school to return! The good news is that school starts on Monday, August 24, just ten days from now. We can't wait to meet our new students and re-establish connections with our returning students.

As always, the summer at TKA is busy improving the campus. We are excited to announce that the BDF wings are complete for our junior high students, including new bathrooms. When on-campus learning resumes, we will set up tours for our families for you to see how these additions have unified the campus and the possibilities they bring to the long-term master plan.

This year, our Spiritual Life theme is "Refocus," which is based upon I Corinthians 16:13: "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong." With all that has happened, it seems fitting to Refocus our energy on the mission statement of TKA and on the things that we do well. The three prongs of academic excellence, servant leadership, and enduring relationships are where we will refocus our attention this year and find new ways to accomplish each in a pandemic setting. To that end, we have invested heavily in new technologies to bring the classroom into your home. Our Spiritual Life team is seeking new opportunities for local service, and our staff will continue to build and strengthen relationships.

Josephine Loy, our Director of Annual Fund and Alumni Relations, will soon be mailing you information about our Knight's Annual Fund (KAF). Our goal of raising $1.5 million dollars is even more important this year as the need for financial assistance has grown tremendously during the pandemic. Our TKA families have been generous in the past to help those in need.  In keeping with our Strategic Plan goal to ensure a broad socioeconomic mix within our student population, we have also added a Diversity Scholarship Fund within the KAF. You can give directly to this fund on the TKA donation page

This school year, the Lord blessed TKA with strong employee retention, and we hired our lowest number of new staff ever. Because of moves and retirements, we hired three new teachers. I am so excited to introduce these new, well-qualified staff members. Here is a link to their biographiesAs we begin the school year, please pray specifically for your student's teachers.

Please also pray for our school community throughout the year!

In Him,

Scott Meadows
