Saturday, November 12, was a great day for the girl's and boys' cross-country teams. Both teams finished 5th at the CCS finals today, and several athletes had their best races of the season.
Highlights of each race:
Junior Thomas Tasker led the boy's team and continues to impress and improve. He finished 7th overall in the Division V race and improved his Crystal Springs PR to a time of 16:14.7, which moved him to third overall for TKA. His finish clinched him a spot as an individual to compete at the California cross-country state meet. Junior Joshua Han ran a brave race after fighting off a nasty cold this week and finished second for the team in a time of 18:26. Junior Evan Jung improved from last week and came in directly behind Joshua Han in the 18:26 as well. Seniors Devan Choski and Joshua Lin followed close behind. Devan improved dramatically, with a PR of 21 seconds. Both finished in 18:36. Senior Issac Fournier improved overall last week and finished in a time of 18:58. Sophomore Joey Hirota wrapped up the runners for the varsity boys in 19:17.
- In summary, Thomas Tasker qualified for the California XC State meet. The boys finished 5th out of 40 teams in Division 5.
Junior Ryland Adzich led the girl's team and raced well over the 2.95 miles. She placed 12th overall and had a PR of 66 seconds. Her 12th place finish also earned her a trip to the California cross-country state meet. Senior Ally Ting continues to improve and ran with gusto after fighting a cold off earlier in the week. She ran a time of 21:31 and placed 25th with a PR of 18 seconds. Senior Hana Rust improved by 14 seconds over the previous week and ran 21:47 to take the third girl's spot for TKA. Bethany Grant went out fast with Ally and came up fourth for the TKA knights. She ran 22:01 and had a 2-second PR. The TKA girl's team was rounded out by junior Harshita Pinneboina and sophomore Amanda Ting. Harshita ran 22:24 (PR of 8 seconds), and Amanda finished in 22:34.
- In summary, Ryland Adzich qualified for the California State Meet, and the girls finished 5th out of 42 teams in Division 5.
