Coach Bios
Dante Perez, Head Coach, played football for 16 years, in high school, college, and then in the Indoor and Outdoor Arena Football League before coaching. Dante has now been coaching football at TKA for six years and is the founder of AOP (Art of Play). Dante is happily married to his wife, Cherina, and together they have three children: Sarai, Pennel, and Hadassah.
Jason Terry, Assistant Head Coach, is a Social Studies teacher and has been with TKA Football since 2022. He has 20-plus years of coaching experience and enjoys the ministry opportunities and life lessons that youth sports provide. Jason is heavily involved in TKA's service trip to Tecate, a church elder, husband, and father of two who enjoys fishing and other outdoor activities with his family.
Charlie Jones, Offensive Line Coach, loves the Lord and football. He is passionate about helping to shape young men into Christ-followers. Charles played offensive guard at Silver Creek High School. Before coaching the last two seasons at TKA, he had 11 years of coaching experience through Sunnyvale Pop Warner and served three years as President of South Bay Pop Warner.
Chris Thompson, Wide Receiver Coach, played football for 13 years as a wide receiver in high school, the University of Florida (Div. 1), and in the NFL. Chris is passionate about helping kids become better versions of themselves to reach their goals.
Isaiah Harrison, Running Backs Coach, went to Palo Alto High School, graduating in 2015. In high school, he focused on football and baseball, but football was the sport he was most passionate about. He attended De Anza Junior College 2015-2016 and played football until an IT Band injury. Isaiah desired to coach at The King's Academy because he remembered how vital coaches were in his life at a young age. He notes, "It's important to help the youth and instill God's message into them."
José Mexicano, Defensive Coordinator, is in his 4th year at TKA and 2nd year as Defensive Coordinator. He coached youth football for eight years with the South Valley Grizzlies Pop Warner league. José has 20-plus years of military service with three combat deployments and four deployments overall. What he enjoys most about coaching is assisting young men to see the value in time, effort, and grit.
Steven Aslan, Assistant Defensive Coordinator, is a dedicated and passionate individual who returned to his alma mater as a coach in his first year. With a storied history as a TKA Football player, he was instrumental in guiding the school's team to win their first CCS championship. Now, armed with a deep understanding of the game and a commitment to nurturing young talent, Steven is determined to inspire the next generation of athletes to achieve greatness with all glorification going to the Lord.
Charles Hemann, Assistant Coach, is a first-year coach for The King’s Academy. Charles has five years of experience in I.T. and three years with the U.S. Army Reserve. He brings technical expertise, discipline, and attention to detail to ensure that the boys on the field are prepared for victory against every one of their opponents.
Jordan Duncan (TKA Class of 2015), is going into his third year of coaching at The King's Academy. Jordan played football and basketball for three years at TKA. He played football for four years at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. He has played organized sports since he was eight. What Jordan remembers most from every team he played on is coaches' impact on him. Jordan has a desire to teach everything he knows about the game and to be a positive Christian role model. He notes, "The game will come and go, but being able to be there for the kids and set an example will stick with them forever."
Brian Robinson is serving as Academic Coach for the football program. Brian is also a math teacher and swim coach at The King's Academy. Brian has been teaching and tutoring in public and private schools since 1996. This is his sixth year at TKA. Brian will work with our athletes to ensure academic success during the season.

History
TKA Football History
Fall 2002: TKA Football Team Begins!
The TKA board approved a football team in 2002. At that time, TKA started with a JV team coached by Bob Sykes who had been the JV coach at Saratoga High. Of the 35 member squad, all but two of the initial players had never played contact football before. The Knights finished with a 7-3 record in their first season of football.
In 2003, TKA was fortunate to bring on Ron Kellner from Valley Christian High School, who led the program for approximately 7 years. Ron, who also served as a TKA Bible teacher, encouraged the display of Christian character on and off the field, while employing a double wing offense which emphasized the run. During Ron’s tenure, the TKA football program went from membership in the North Coast Section to the Peninsula Athletic League, and made appearances in the CCS playoffs.
In the relatively brief time TKA's football program has been in existence, it has seen some amazing highlights, including entry into the Pacific Athletic League, CCS playoff appearances, Christian character and actions recognized by other schools, consistent awards for highest academic achievement, and young men continuing to play in college, including play at D1 schools with scholarships.

Parents
Welcome to Knights Football!
YOU are ESSENTIAL! We count it an honor and a privilege to support Head Coach Dante Perez, TKA's Coaching Staff, and our student athletes through our parent volunteers aka “TKA Football Family”. The purpose of the “TKA Football Family” is to enhance the TKA Football Program through our volunteer efforts!
Football is unlike any other sport. It takes commitment and dedication, not just of our student athletes and coaches, but of the parents and siblings too! And it takes ALL of US to run a football program. In return for getting involved and being a part of our “TKA Football Family” you gain irreplaceable friendships and your sons experience relationships that last a lifetime.
Our Team Parents provide communication and coordinate all of the volunteer activities for the “TKA Football Family” during the summer workouts and football season through playoffs for both the Varsity and JV Teams. Each year, we work to create continuity in our TKA Traditions and look to have one parent from each grade as part of the leadership team.
We invite you to tap into your gifts and talents as we cheer, volunteer and pray for our kids, coaches and families. There are many opportunities to get involved and to help contribute to the success of our TKA Football program. Stay tuned for additional details. We look forward to getting to know you and watching our TKA Football Family flourish.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact us at TKAFootballTeam@gmail.com.
