TKA MidKnight Robotics teams compete with other FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams in the Bay Area.

TKA has two teams - MidKnight Madness #7854 and MidKnight Mayhem #15385 - comprised of up to fifteen high school students each.

Open to Boys & Girls Entering Grades 3-9
Monday-Friday, June 10-June 21 
8:30 am drop off, class 9:00 – 2:00 pm

Advanced Robotics Camp

For students who have participated in the Beginner’s Camp, have taken the Robotics class at TKA, or have experience with the EV3 Mindstorm Robotics software and build.

Monday-Friday, June 24-July 5  (no class July 4 due to national holiday)

A Stellar 2023-2024 Season for TKA Robotics!

The King’s Academy Robotics Program had an outstanding year. The students grew in knowledge, maturity, responsibility, assertiveness, leadership, teamwork, and humility. The seniors have left a great legacy for others to build on.

South Bay League Tournament Awards

  • Inspire Award (1st Place) is awarded to the team that best embodies the ‘challenge’ of the FIRST Tech Challenge program. The team that receives this award is a strong ambassador for FIRST programs and a role model FIRST team. The Inspire Award winner is an inspiration to other teams, acting with Gracious Professionalism® both on and off the playing field. This team moved on to the NorCal Regional Championship.
     
  • Motivate Award (3rd Place) is awarded to the teams that embrace the culture of FIRST and clearly show what it means to be a team. This judged award celebrates the team that represents the essence of the FIRST Tech Challenge competition through Gracious Professionalism®

California NorCal Regional Championship Awards

  • Ranked 5th in Gold Division (out of 24 teams)
  • Captain of 4th Seeded Alliance (lost in semifinals to event NorCal Champions)
  • Connect Award (3rd Place)

MidKnight Mayhem Team 15385

South Bay League Tournament Award

  • Winning Alliance Award:  This award was given to the winning Alliance represented in the final Match. The winner of this award moved on to the NorCal Regional Championship.
     
  • Think Award is awarded for removing engineering obstacles through creative thinking. This judged award is given to the team that best reflects the journey the team took as they experienced the engineering design process during the build season team’s robot.

California NorCal Regional Championship Awards

  • Ranked 14th (out of 24 teams)
  • 3rd Seeded Alliance in the Silicon Division (lost in semifinals to 2nd Seeded Alliance)
  • Think Award at the Regional Level

2023-2024 Team

**Applications are now closed for the 2023-24 Team, due to an unprecedented number of applications for limited spots. For questions, contact Robotics Team Coach, Mrs. Annette Lane, annette.lane@tka.org.

The FTC season runs from September through January, with the NorCal Championships in late February or early March. 

Open to students in Grades 9-12.  Teams meet three times/week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:15-6:00 p.m. The TKA robotics team members contribute a variety of skills, and no prior experience is required.

The Robotics team fee for this season will be $550, which includes individual tool kits and team shirts for each student and also covers team expenses such registrations, robot parts and materials, equipment and coaches' stipends. Families will be billed through TKA FACTS system.

We train new members on CAD, 3D printing, hardware prototyping, and software with Android Studio to program in Java.We also have an on-campus machine shop to design and manufacture parts. The team is run like a small business, with marketing, fundraising, team management, and presentation skills needed as well.

TKA Helps Pilot Program with Mark Rober & CrunchLabs

TKA is embarking on the first-ever pilot program with Mark Rober and CrunchLabs. TKA students and teachers will collaborate with Mark and his team at CrunchLabs and utilize his engineering products to help them develop an educational learning program for schools.
