Dear TKA Families,
We hope that your summer is going well. I am sending this information to parents and students, so you can take the necessary steps to prepare your devices for on-campus learning during the 2022-2023 school year. The steps below will ensure a better internet experience and security for our students while on campus.
1. Install Digital Certificate - Accessing sites like google.com or gmail.com will require the TKA digital certificate while on campus for student devices. If you do not install the digital certificate you will see error pages on your web browsers when attempting to go to those secure websites. Every new and returning student will need to install the new certificate on any device that will be used on campus in the 2022-23 school year. This is a new certificate, so returning students will need to download and install the certificate to replace the one installed last year.
- A link to download the digital certificate can be found in the FACTS Family Portal on the TKA website (www.tka.org). Look under the Announcements section for the TKA Digital Certificate announcement. Also, in the announcement, a PDF guide and an instructional video are available which give step-by-step instructions on how to install the digital certificate on a Macbook or iPad.
- IT Services highly recommends the installation of the digital certificate be completed as early as possible, but no later than August 15, 2022. You must install the digital certificate while off campus.
- Please refer to the PDF guide or instructional video linked above when troubleshooting the installation.
2. Install Security Updates: Please make sure that student devices have all the latest security updates, the latest operating system, and active and up-to-date antivirus software for MacBook laptops.
3. Disable Parent Monitoring Software During School Hours: If student devices have any Parental Monitoring software or apps (Circle, Covenant Eyes, Qustodio, etc.), please make sure that the software/app is turned off or disabled during school hours to prevent connectivity issues while connected to the campus network.
Thank you in advance for taking these steps to prepare student devices for an optimal learning experience in 2022-2023.
