Good Morning TKA Families,
As the school year is off and running, we fully expect a student's return to school to be interrupted now and again with sickness, including Covid-19. As a reminder, if your student feels ill for any reason, please keep your student home. It is important for students who feel ill to get rest in order to recover.
Keep students home if their temperature is above 100.0 F (38.7 C) or they report not feeling well, appear weak or ill. Students MUST be free of all symptoms (i.e. fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.), without using fever-reducing medicines such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, for 24 hours before being allowed to return to school. (Student/Parent Handbook, pg. 37)
If your student stays home, please email the SAO office at sao@tka.org. If your student is ill and positive for Covid-19, please email Nurse Jen at Jennifer.kau@tka.org and Stephanie Huber at Stephanie.huber@tka.org.
If your child tests positive for Covid, TKA follows this guidance provided by the Department of Public Health:
- The date a student exhibits symptoms or tests positive is considered Day 0.
- A student may test again on Day 5. If the test is negative, the student may return to school on Day 6. They must also wear a mask through Day 10.
- If a student continues to test positive, they must stay home until they test negative or through Day 10.
- Nurse Jen or Mrs. Huber will contact you personally with the dates and more details.
Regarding school work, please have your students do their best to stay on top of work with Google classroom and email their teachers. They will be given plenty of time to finish the missing work when they return. When it is possible, they may be excused from some missing assignments.
We want students to prioritize resting and returning to health, and we look forward to seeing you all at Back to School Knight.
