Note from the Business Office: As we close this 2012-2013 school year, ALL TUITION AND FEES must be paid in full for a student to graduate, receive a yearbook, and be assigned to classes for next year. Missing fees may include those for sports, after school care, VPA, Saturday school, books, and chemistry breakage as well as failure to return items such as sports uniforms and library books. Submit payments no later than Monday, May 20, to the Main Office with the student’s name and fee item noted on the check. Though it is our goal to send each family an email of unpaid items, please help us by reviewing any notices/emails you have received for outstanding fees. Senior Faire Extraordinaire Coming May 15! The goal of this event is to raise money for a senior class gift from the Class of 2015. Korean BBQ lunch and one game ticket will cost only $10. Tickets on sale beginning Monday, May 6. Check out this flyer for more information about games and entertainment!
Accreditation Action Plan 2012-2013: You can read the annual action plan here. TKA is accredited by ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) through June 2015. As part of the ongoing accreditation process, the school must submit an annual action plan addressing the recommendations made during the last accreditation visit.
Summer Junior HIgh Debate Camp: Attention families of 2013-14 junior high students! TKA is offering an exciting opportunity for students to attend debate camp over the summer! Whether your student shines in the limelight or would like to build their confidence in public speaking, debate camp is a great opportunity for students to learn how to effectively research and deliver a convincing argument in front of a group of people. Debate camp is a three-week course offered in June or July that is meant to prepare students to argue effectively using the format designed by the Middle School Public Debate Program. Host Family Needed for TKA Student: We are seeking a host family for one of our current TKA high school students for the coming school year. The student is a male and will be in 11th grade next year. Please contact Admissions Director, Mrs. Michele Duncan.
Chili's All School Fundraiser on Wednesday, May 8: Bring this flyer for eat in or take out on Wednesday, May 8, and 15% of the total bill will be donated to TKA, to benefit Senior Grad Night.
Would You Like to Help Welcome New TKA Families? We are holding an event on Saturday, May 11, for new families whose students will attend TKA in the fall. If you are currently the parent of a 6th grader, we would especially appreciate your coming to the new parent welcome reception to share your experiences with having a new student at TKA. All parents, please help us show our famous TKA hospitality by signing up to drop off cookies or brownies (on Friday, May 10) or helping at the event on Saturday, May 11, 9:00 a.m. -12 noon. Family Fee Volunteer Time Reimbursement: 16 hours per year per student are required to receive the $100 reimbursement. Thus, if you have 3 students at TKA, you can work 48 hours and receive $300. Complete this form and return to Business Office by June 1.
6th Grade Monterey Trip: On Monday , May 6, the 6th grade will be going on an all-day field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We will be leaving about 8:30 a.m. and returning at 3:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Gary Goff.
7th Grade Laser Quest Night: Sevvies, join us at Laser Quest in Mountain View on Friday, May 3, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.! For only $17, you get two (2) Laser Quest games, pizza, and dessert! There is limited space so if you would like to guarantee a spot please make a check out to "TKA," write your child's name on memo line, and give it to Mrs. Duncan (in the Admissions Office) by Tuesday, April 30, along with this permission slip. 9th Grade Freshmen Birthday Party Extravaganza: Parents, please encourage your freshman to come to the Freshman Birthday Party Extravaganza on Thursday, May 2, at lunch, in the W building. We will celebrate the birthday of every freshman, all on one day! There will be pizza, ice cream cake, and birthday fun. 11th Grade Beach Trip: The juniors would like to have a trip to Twin Lakes Beach to celebrate the end of the year, but we need your help with driving, fire wood, and food! The trip is scheduled for Friday, May 24. We plan to leave from school at 2:30 p.m. and return by 10:30 p.m. We will have pizza for dinner at the beach and then enjoy a bonfire and s’mores. We need approximately 30 drivers for the event, wood for the bonfire, and the food items below (food may be dropped off in my classroom, C-1, Thursday, May 23 or Friday. May 24). 11th Grade Class London Trip 2014: Sign-ups continue! Enroll now and get the $100 early enrollment discount through the end of April. The trip price may increase so better to enroll earlier and lock in your price. Simply follow this link to register at EF Tours and pay the $95 non-refundable registration fee. There is a convenient monthly payment plan for any who are interested in that. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mr. George Parsons. Remember, this trip takes place during Christmas vacation next year (January 4-12), and exams will be finished in December.
12th Grade Worship Night: The last Senior Worship Night of the year is Thursday, May 2, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the W Building. It will be a great time of reflection on the past year and prayer for what lies ahead. Come ready to worship God with your fellow seniors!
12th Grade Senior Retreat: To reserve your son or daughter’s spot for the Senior Retreat, a $200 (non-refundable) deposit was due to Cora Bell on Thursday, March 21. The remaining $200 payment is due by Friday, April 26. Note: The deposit and remaining $200 payment should be in the form of a check made out to TKA with “Senior Retreat” in the subject line. 2nd Annual High School Hoedown! Hey Y'All! It’s time to get out your cowboy hat and boots again! SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, MAY 18, for the High School Hoedown at Coyote Ranch (Metcalf Rd Morgan Hill, CA 95037) from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Dinner Included! Tickets will be sold for $15 starting Monday, April 29, in the Quad. Prices will go up to $20 Wednesday, May 15, so get your Tickets ASAP! Students will enjoy square dancing, line dancing, a BBQ dinner, hay rides, games, bonfire & s’mores! Ye-Ha!

Summer On-Campus SAT Preparation Courses: The following companies will be offering SAT test preparation courses on The King's Academy campus between now and October. In no way do we endorse any one particular program over another. However, these companies offer quality courses, and each has its own particular strength.
Advanced Drama Performance of Jam Jar Sonnets: TKA's Advanced Drama Class has been granted the rights to perform a brand new full-length musical called Jam Jar Sonnets. It has only been performed six other times, and TKA will be the West Coast Premiere. Through poetry and song, Jam Jar Sonnets examines self-doubt, and abuse, as well as hope, love, romance, and divine intervention in a way that is ultimately both compassionate and comic. Show performed one day only, Friday, April 26 at 3:30 & 7:30 p.m. Come experience history in the making! Get your $5 tickets at the Main Office or at the door.
Auditions for Knightshine 2013-2014: Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 28, for next year’s Knightshine. Audition packets available here and in both student and parent portals. Contact Mr. Sluyter for more details.
Voice Lessons: Mr. Sluyter, Vocal Music teacher, will be giving voice lessons this summer. This is a great way to learn to sing a little better and help with vocal technique.
