From Gary: "I intend to start off the evening by talking about the various types of grief that are currently going on and the negative effects that those could have on not only academic performance but family and personal mental wellness. We will end the evening talking about when our plate is too full and offer some pragmatic, yet meaningful ways to combat those things in the context of our kids' development and recovery along with our own journey." His presentation will be followed by Q& A with Gary and TKA staff members: Rob Starke, Campus Pastor; George Parson, Dean of Students; Stephanie Huber, Assistant Dean of Students; Brenda Rosé, Spiritual Life Parent Resources
SPIRITUAL LIFE & SERVICE This Week in Chapel: We had the opportunity to have our second "Family Discussion." This time, we heard from four of our beloved staff members: Mr. Phil Wang, Mr. David Yu, Ms. Dayna Rychen and Mr. Teddy Lee. Our panel spoke about their life experiences, racial identity, and things they have been learning over the last few months. It was a wonderful discussion and one that left our community challenged to love each other better since we are all created in God's image. Homegroups were able to have discussion time immediately following and also enjoyed a scavenger hunt sponsored by the Student Council. You can watch the chapel on the Spiritual Life YouTube.
2020-2021 Service: Service is a critical component of TKA's educational experience, and all high school students at The King's Academy are required to complete service hours annually as part of their graduation requirements. We find ourselves in a unique situation for the 2020-2021 school year with regard to service. The experience will be different this year for many but no less valuable.
