SPIRITUAL LIFE & SERVICE

Alternate text

2020-2021 Spiritual Life Theme
"Refocus: The Elements of Faith"

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong."
1 Corinthians 16.13

This Week in Chapel: We had our third installment of our "Family Discussions on Race." Members of both our previous panels came together to answer student questions that had been submitted after our other two discussion times. We are very thankful for our staff members who were willing to authentically talk through these tough and relevant questions. Students were then able to debrief and discuss what they heard during Homegroup times following Chapel.

Home Group Chapel Discussion Questions:

  • What have you learned over the course of our three family discussion chapels?  Summarize it in one - two sentences. (You can have them write this in the chat if you would prefer.)
  • Did anything surprise you, confuse you, or make you stop and think more during chapel today?
  • Did you agree or disagree strongly with anything that was said today?
  • How can we help those that have been hurt by racism?
  • How can we avoid making racist or insensitive statements?
  • Over the course of our discussions did you become aware of any unconscious bias that you hold?  (Definition: Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness).  What can you do to start to change your unconscious biases?
  • How does God call us to view the world?  How can we at TKA do a better job of loving each other the way God loves us?

2020-2021 Service: Service is a critical component of TKA's educational experience, and all high school students at The King's Academy are required to complete service hours annually as part of their graduation requirements. Details found at www.tka.org/service2020.Please send photos of your service activities to the yearbook staff--email to chrissy.mata@tka.org

  • Local In-Person and Online Service Opportunities(Updated regularly)
  • MobileServe: If you can not find your activation email, please download the MobileServe app on your phone or access on your computer browser, click login, and then click forgot password. This will generate another email invitation to join. You must log in with your TKA email address.
