Bible 7 Lesson: Biblical Sexuality Dear Seventh Grade Parents,
In conjunction with our study of Genesis in Bible 7, Miss Miller and I will soon address the topic of Biblical Sexuality. The objective is to ensure that our students have an accurate understanding of the Biblical worldview concerning gender, marriage, and sexual behaviors. This is a sensitive topic, so we wanted to inform you in advance.
On Monday, September 20, Bible 7 students will be given this handout, Biblical Boundaries Regarding Sexuality, and the teachers will go over it in class. We will examine the Scriptures, and speak compassionately about God's good design for all of Creation and His loving limits placed on human behaviors, specifically those regarding sexuality.
In order to protect innocence and minimize awkwardness, students will write their questions down and submit them anonymously at the end of class. We will not answer their questions in classes, but we will send a follow-up email to parents with all of the questions the seventh graders submitted. This is so you are aware of what is on the hearts and minds of TKA Sevvies, but more so that you can also follow up and address these with your child in ways that are most appropriate for your family. An excellent resource for parents from Focus on the Family is linked here: How to Talk to Your Children About Homosexuality.
Finally, we are also fully in support of your decision should you prefer that your child be excused from this day's lesson. Please contact your child's Bible teacher, so an alternative assignment can be provided for your child to complete in the library during Monday's Bible class.
We acknowledge that this is a difficult subject, especially in our current culture. Your home is still the best place to have these conversations with your seventh-grader, and you will likely need to have several conversations over several years. Parenting is challenging, and we are here to support you.
Please pray for us as we endeavor to help your child to learn to navigate these social issues in a God-honoring way.
Blessings,
