Wednesday, September 22, will be full school day for all, 8:00-2:50 p.m. We Love TKA Retreats! 7th & 8th Grade Ochievviefest: We are very excited about our upcoming Ochevviefest. The retreat will be held two consecutive days (not overnight) at The Salvation Army Redwood Glen Camp and Conference Center in Scotts Valley. Student Reminders:
Cell Phones It is preferable that students leave cell phones at home as they will not be permitted on the bus or at the retreat. If brought, cell phones must remain in the backpack.

AP Exams for Courses Not Offered at TKA: TKA students in 11th and 12th grade may opt to take a limited selection of AP exams for courses which we do not offer at TKA. The fee for each of the exams is $125 and will be charged to the student's FACTS account. The deadline to complete this form to request to take optional AP exams at TKA is Friday, October 29, 2021.
California Scholarship (and Junior Scholarship) Federation: Read about CSF/CJSF here. California Scholarship (and Junior Scholarship) Federation: CSF and CJSF membership applications are available below: The membership drive runs September 17 through Monday October 4. If you are in the 8th, 11th, or 12th grade you are eligible to apply. Please remember that you must reapply each semester, so even if you are already a member you will need to apply again. Please provide a copy of last semester's 2021 spring semester report card along with the application form. There is a $5 application fee (Credit Card only - Pay fee here) The deadline for turning in your application is Monday October 4, 2021. STUDENT CLUBS & CLASS SPECIFIC ANNOUNCEMENTS See You at the Pole™ is a global movement of prayer which is student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led. Around the globe students meet at flagpoles to pray for their schools. TKA students will be gathering at lunch on Wednesday, September 22, to pray. - Sponsored by TKA Student Council Student Clubs! Students, now is the time to charter clubs. For new clubs, complete the charter application. If you are looking to reinstate your club from last year, complete the renewal application. A list of clubs from last school year is below. There will be a Student Club Fair at lunch on Wednesday, September 29, so form your clubs now so you can recruit new members! Random Acts of Kindness Club: Want to give back to your community and express your gratitude in the most rewarding way? The Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK) club can offer you an amazing opportunity filled with fun and exciting activities that always benefits someone. It's not too late to get in on the ground floor of TKA's exciting and growing debate team! We are open to all grades and have just started meeting weekly Wednesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. in C-11. Next week, we will begin lunchtime training sessions for new debaters, so this is the perfect time to get involved! Students, Need a Work Permit? Students must have a job first, and then you can apply for a work permit using this form. Once you have the job, please fill out your portion of the form, and have your employer fill out their portion of the form. Your parents will need to sign the form as well. When complete, please SCAN & email the application to Registrar@tka.org. Allow 3-5 days for processing. A work permit will be emailed back to you.
Current 8th Grade Students and Parents: Join us on Tuesday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Theater to learn more about the 8th Grade East Coast trip taking place April 8-16, 2022 Representatives from P.A.C.E. Travel will be present to give details. We will visit Washington, D.C., Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Monticello, and Gettysburg. Details about registration, pricing, and how to chaperone will be presented.
Current 9th and 10th Grade Students and Parents: While you did not have the opportunity to attend the Washington, D.C./East Coast trip in 8th grade, it is still possible! TKA is offering a one time only DC Makeup trip, June 2 - June 8, 2022. We will visit Washington, D.C., Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Monticello, and Gettysburg. All current 9th and 10th graders are invited along with their parents. Parents are not required to attend if their student chooses to participate. Come hear more about this exciting trip on Wednesday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the TKA Theater. If Wednesday does not work for you, you may attend the 8th grade meeting the night before.

Common Ground Speaker Series: "Parenting Past the Pandemic: A Guide to Returning to School": Thursday, September 23, 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. SPIRITUAL LIFE & SERVICE "Love the Lord your God" Spiritual Life Theme 2021-2022 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" This Week in Chapel: Today, The King's Academy had the extreme blessing of hearing from Bill Paige, a nationally known Young Life speaker, and to be led by the worship band, Kokua. Bill shared not only his story of how he came to Christ, and how that radically changed his life. He shared the story of Jesus' call for Peter to follow Him, and the amazing things that Peter experiences at Jesus' feet. Bill pointed the students to truth that Jesus can overcome any of the difficulties that they are facing, just as He did for Peter.

Financial Aid Presentation: Join us via Zoom (https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86964239940) on Thursday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m. Stefani Blanco is a Financial Aid Counselor at Santa Clara University. She has been with SCU for 6 years and is dedicated to making education possible with an empathetic approach to each student's needs as they navigate the financial aid process.
Walk-In College Application Workshops will be offered on several Wednesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. in the library. The College Counseling staff will be available to help students with any application. Workshops offered on these Wednesdays: October 6, October 20, November 10.

ATHLETICS Junior High Sports Sign Ups: Sign up for Girls Soccer and Boys Basketball through Monday, September 20. Sign up at www.tka.org under "Athletics" --> "Sports Sign-Up". Sports Fees will be billed through FACTS. Sports Fees will be billed once team rosters are finalized (Typically two weeks after first practice). Note: There will be a $75 late registration fee for any student who does not sign up during the allotted time period.
