Welcome New TKA Families and Students!
Currently, we are expecting 182 new students this fall (112 in 6th grade, 14 in 7th grade, 14 in 8th grade, 31 in 9th grade, 3 in 10th grade, 7 in 11th grade, 1 in 12th grade). Lost and Found Items: Please check the lost and found tables outside the SAO, Monday - Friday, May 15 - 19. For valuable items such as phones, calculators, earbuds or jewelry, please ask and identify these inside the SAO. All items not picked up will be donated to charity by end of day TODAY (Friday, May 19). Grade Detail & Report Cards - Grade Detail Window Closed Beginning Monday, May 22, at 9:00 a.m.
- Semester 2 Report Cards: Will be released Friday, June 2, by end of day.

Finals: Monday-Thursday, May 22-25 - Attendance: Reporting of absences is mandatory. Email Attendance@tka.org. "All students are required to be in all scheduled classes during the finals week," per p. 21 of the Student/Parent Handbook. Please make sure your students come to school on time, and are well rested, studied, and nourished during this important time of the school year.
- SAO Hours: SAO opens at 9:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. during finals week.
- Library hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Open Mornings, brunch, lunch and afterschool Quiet Zone and Lounge area only.
- Finals Policy: Parents and students, please review the Finals Policy.
- Finals Dress Code: During finals week, the TKA dress code still applies. For example, no slippers, pajama pants, or hats indoors.
- Finals Start Time: Monday - Thursday: Finals begin at 10:30 a.m.
- Finals Week Dismissal:
- Monday - Wednesday dismissal at 2:15 p.m.
- Thursday, dismissal at 12 noon unless make-up exams or 8th grade promotion rehearsal (12:30-1:45 p.m.) NOTE: No lunch service Thursday.

Library Announcements: - All Senior Textbooks are due no later than Wednesday, May 24, 4:00 p.m. or will be billed on their FACTS Account.
- The Main Library Tables/Stacks: The main tables and book stacks are closed. Only the Lounge and the Quiet Zone areas will be available for student use.
- All Students' Textbooks (Grades 6-11) Due Thursday, May 25, and no later than Wednesday, May 31 or students will be billed to their FACTS account.
- Finals Week: Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Open mornings, brunch, lunch and afterschool Quiet Zone and Lounge area only (closed during finals testing).

INFORMATION FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR Summer Reading Challenge: We are so excited to offer the Summer Reading Challenge again! Each grade level will be provided a Summer Reading list. We encourage you to write up a review of the books you've read on the Google Form and submit up to 5 submissions. Raffle prizes will be drawn at the first Club for Middle and High School winners. AP/Honor Class Summer Assignments will be posted by Monday, June 5. TKA Forms & Handouts Webpage (Under "Quicklinks" at tka.org): Find summer programs, fall supply lists, school calendar, all forms, and much more. Bookmark! Carpool Interest Sign-Up Form for 2023-24: The first carpool interest list will be emailed to those who sign-up on Thursday, June 1. An update will be sent every two weeks. It will be organized by zip code, so you can contact those parents in your area who are interested and negotiate the days and times you would like to carpool. Does Your Student Require Medication? Please complete this Medication at School Authorization Form. Before ANY medication can be taken during school hours, it is necessary to have specific written orders from your student's physician as well as written authorization from you Incoming 7th Grade Students Need Proof of Tdap Booster: Details here. Due by Tuesday, June 6. School Device Minimum Requirements for 2023-24: All students must have a MacBook (Air or Pro). Students will be limited to only one device on TKA's network. These device minimum specifications and software requirements make sure all devices are compatible with classroom applications and other Apple products at TKA, including the Apple TVs. P.E. Uniforms for 2023-2024 School Year: The P.E. uniform ordering window is now open. This is the only opportunity to order uniforms if you need new items for fall. The uniforms have not changed. Order here by July 15 to have by the first day of school. Orders shipped to your home three weeks after ordering. (PE Uniform link found under "Athletics" at tka.org.) |

ALL RETURNING STUDENTS: SAVE YOUR TKA NETWORK PASSWORD (while you still remember it) ) to prevent any issues on the first day of school because passwords can only be reset when on campus and connected to the TKA network. Attention All Students - Proper Dress at TKA Events: TKA students of any grade who are attending the Promotion or Graduation ceremonies as guests on May 26 and May 27 are expected to follow TKA dress code. Please be mindful that you are each an ambassador of our school to the many families who will be present. Thank you! Students, Need a Work Permit for a Summer Job? Students must have a job first, and then you can apply for a work permit using this form. Once you have the job, please fill out your portion of the form, and have your employer fill out their portion of the form. Your parents will need to sign the form as well. When complete, please SCAN & email the application to Registrar@tka.org. Allow 3-5 days for processing. A work permit will be emailed back to you. Library Summer Reading Challenge: - The TKA Library will be closed during the summer.
- Summer Reading lists are located on the TKA website under Academics - Summer 2023. Please go to your local library to check out print books. But if you don't want to get a print book, we have something new!!!
- We have audio and eBooks through Sora which is a new program we are launching. Sign up by logging into Sora. Sora will ask you for your school email and your password. Currently, we have a limited number of audio and eBooks in Sora. However, the exciting news is that you can check out audio and eBooks at the Sunnyvale Library and Santa Clara Library by adding these libraries to your Sora account. Go to the 3 bars (near the Search) click on add a library and search for the libraries. You can only add Sunnyvale or Santa Clara Library to your Sora account. If the Sora audio and eBooks program get many readers, we will add books to our collection. So, TKA student body, we need your participation to make this program a success. Try it! You will be surprised you may like it.

12th Grade Students - MySchoolBucks/Student Store Balance: - If you have a balance left on your MySchoolBucks account, your money will be refunded in CASH; OR, a transfer will be made to a sibling that is still enrolled for the next school year.
- Starting Monday, May 22, you may pick up your cash refund at the Student Store between the hours of 9:00-11:00 a.m. or 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Class of 2023 Grad Night - Don't Miss Your Final Class Event! Grad Night will be held at Long Branch Farms in Half Moon Bay on Saturday, May 27. The cost, REDUCED to $105 per student, includes transportation, a BBQ dinner, and a variety of activities. Deadline extended to TODAY (Friday, May 26). All attendees are required to arrive via the bus transportation provided. Check-in at TKA begins at 3:30 p.m. and students return to TKA at 10:00 p.m. |

| | Congratulation to State Speech Champions, Natalie Chen (8th grade) and Samuel Ma (8th grade)! In annual California middle school state championship hosted by CHSSA (California high school speech association), Natalie won State Champion in informative speech and 2nd place in Oratorical Interpretation, Samuel won State Champion in Extemporaneous speech, 5th place in Impromptu speech and 6th place in Oratorical Interpretation. They will also represent TKA to compete in the NSDA national middle school tournament next month in Phoenix. Good luck to them and GO KnIghts! |

College Application Workshops for Rising Seniors: The TKA Counseling Department will offer workshops to help students start their UC & Common Applications. Each session will begin with guided instruction, and the rest of the time will be devoted to assisting students in their application process. Class of 2024, Register here by Friday, May 26.
