Service Select Criteria
Students are strongly encouraged to participate in service trips sponsored by The King’s Academy. If that is not possible, students may select a service opportunity outside of a TKA Service Trip that is sponsored by a Christ-centered organization or church group.
This Service Select must meet the goals and objectives of the 35-hour service requirement. The core values of these outside organizations must not be in conflict with TKA’s Statement of Faith.
A Service Select Application Form must be submitted and approved by the Spiritual Life Department prior to the start of service. A Service Select Evaluation Form is required after the service has been completed.
Because TKA is a Christ-centered school, to qualify for service hours the Service Select opportunity must be with a Christ-centered organization and meet a minimum of two of the following four criteria:
- The recipients have a material need.
- There is a relational component
- Students are serving across economic, geographic, or ethnic groups.
- Students are choosing to be out of their comfort zone
Students will be asked to explain how their service meets these criteria in the Service Select Application. Students may not use TKA-sponsored events (such as volunteering at a retreat) to fulfill service hours. They must accomplish their Service Select hours outside of their normal school activities. Students may not use Service Select hours to fulfill NHS service requirements. Likewise, NHS service may not be counted toward the 35 hours of required service for graduation.

Students must sign in using their TKA email account. If you have trouble accessing the application link below, be sure to log out of your personal email on your computer and/or change your web browser. Both student and parent will receive an email confirmation once the application is submitted.
