The Principal's List is comprised of those students who have achieved a 4.0 or above for a semester grading period. The Honor Roll recognizes students who have earned a 3.5 and above, but less than 4.0.
The Principal's List and Honor Roll are emailed to all families at the end of each semester grading period, and the list is posted on campus, across from the Student Activities Office.
The National Honor Society (NHS) consists of students in grades 10-12, and students may be inducted in the spring of their 10th, 11th, or 12th grade year. The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) consists of students in grades 7-8, and students may be inducted in the spring of their 7th or 8th grade year. Only students who have attended TKA for at least one semester may be considered for membership.
For both NHS and NJHS, eligibility to apply is based on a cumulative academic GPA of 3.8 or above (weighted, but not including P.E.). In February of each year, students who meet the minimum GPA requirement will be contacted by mail and invited to submit an application to the Faculty Council. Membership selection is based not only on GPA but also on faculty evaluations and the student’s demonstrated leadership, service, and character.
If a student is not selected, he/she may apply again the following year provided that his/her cumulative GPA is still 3.8 or above. Once a student is inducted into NHS or NJHS, he/she remains a member as long as all of the membership requirements are fulfilled. There is a yearly membership fee. If for any reason a member is dismissed from the chapter, the student may not rejoin at any time in the future. This is a statewide organization that recognizes scholarship and citizenship. To be eligible for this honor, junior high and high school students must apply for and meet a prescribed level of academic achievement each semester beginning in the seventh grade and sophomore year, respectively. Students must re-apply for membership each semester.
Forms for CSF will be available in the SAO January and September. The completed application along with a copy of the student’s transcript or report card for that semester, and a processing fee of $5 will be due in the SAO by the set due date before the SAO closes. Applications will not be accepted after that date and incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Eighth grade students who are awarded membership three of their four semesters in junior high will become CJSF Sealbearers. A seal will be affixed on their promotion certificate, and an honor cord worn at the promotion ceremony.
Seniors who have earned at least four semesters of membership based on grades 10th through 12th, with one of the semesters based on senior grades, will become a lifetime CSF Sealbearer. They will graduate with “Sealbearer” annotated on their transcript and in the graduation program. A seal will be affixed on their diploma and an honor stole worn at the graduation ceremony. If a student transfers to The King’s Academy from another high school, he/she may still apply for membership in CSF/CJSF.
