Experience Tecate Service Trip

Parents Serve with Students

TKA parents have the unique opportunity to serve alongside their students on the Tecate Service Trip.

Value of Parents Serving with Student:

  • Spend time together, grow closer

  • Model importance of service

  • Share experiences and lasting memories

  • Get to know their friends

  • Observe child in different environment; students see their parents in a different environment

  • Unplug from technology and distractions

  • Meet and build relationships with other parents and staff

  • Learn new skills

  • Interact with another culture

  • Leave a lasting legacy in Tecate community

  • Experience benefit and ease of participating in TKA organized trip – travel/support/food details taken care of for you

Spending time together as a family helping others is one of the most rewarding and memorable gifts you can give your children.

Serving others together also touches on several of the 40 developmental assets included in The Developmental Assets® Framework developed by the Search Institute. Search Institute has identified 40 positive supports and strengths that young people need to succeed.

Tecate Safety Updates

We are  in regular contact with our partner organizations in both Tecate and Tijuana, and they are keeping us informed of the most recent developments in the area. If at any point The King's Academy leadership team, or our partnering organizations, deem travel to the region unsafe, we will not hesitate to modify our plans or call off travel to that area.

TKA Service Trip Safety Guidelines

The King's Academy is continually monitoring threats and concerns that may affect the welfare of students on service trips. We regularly check the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization for health updates and the U.S. State Department for travel advisories. At no time will we organize a trip with a travel advisory to a country that exceeds a Level 2 warning. We are also in contact with partner organizations in our planned service locations. If at any point we, or the partnering organization, deem travel unsafe, we will not hesitate to modify our plans or call off travel to that area. For questions, contact Rob Starke, Campus Pastor, at x4270
