8th Grade World Vision Partnership 2024

As a school community, we continuously discover what it means to live out the gospel, loving our neighbors as Christ loves us. And since Jesus calls us to love our neighbors near AND far, we are excited to announce that our 8th Grade class is partnering with World Vision in Guatemala.

This year, Principal Ferrante and the Spiritual Life team had the vision to find an organization to enhance our Bible curriculum experience at the 8th-grade level. Instead of our students just learning about service and what it means to serve, we wanted to bridge the gap between theory and experience.

Beginning this semester in our 8th grade Bible classes, we are rolling out a new six-week intensive in conjunction with our partnership with World Vision. Students will hear about global crises, have an opportunity to sponsor children, learn about root causes of poverty, and create class generated projects to serve those in need by being the hands and feet of Jesus.

We sincerely believe students are never too young to make an impact. We are excited about how the World Vision curriculum and experiences will help our students embody Jesus' love in the world. We also value the impact we can make for the sake of kids in developing countries, as they are empowered to live free from the bondage of extreme poverty.

6th & 7th Grade Service Project 2024

The 6th and 7th graders will remain on campus during TKA's annual Service Week March 25-28th. In light of last year's successful on campus service project, we felt it important to continue to instill in our young students a heart for service.

Junior High Service Week Overview

The week of March 25-28th will look a little different than normal, as each day will include IOWA Testing, normal class time, and the service project. Below you find the Bell Schedule for the full outline of the week.

Junior High On-Campus Service Project

This year we will be partnering with two organizations, Martha's Kitchen and Awakening Foundation, as well as serving our very own TKA library! Each afternoon we will have a two hour block of time for service. In the first hour, everyone will assemble in the theater for a short chapel session where we will introduce our service partners for the day, and then students will break off into their assigned teams to work on the service project for the remaining hour.  We are excited about the chance for the students to learn about the importance and impact that service has, as well as give them hands-on opportunities to serve.

Partner Organizations:

  • Martha's Kitchen - Martha's Kitchen is a local hot meal and grocery program in San Jose. Students will participate in a food drive competition and help to create an interactive mural to help promote the work that Martha's Kitchen does in our local community.
  • Awakening Foundation - The Gateway School in India is a ministry of Awakening Foundation that provides education for students who don't have funds for resources. We will have an interview with and virtual tour of Gateway School. We will host a book drive for gently used books, and students will pack boxes of books to send to the students in India to help them learn English.
  • TKA Library Book Beautification - Students will work with the Library staff taking inventory, cleaning, sorting, etc. books in the library and classrooms.
